Enjoy the cooler, comfortable temperatures and enjoy getting back to nature this pre-autumn season. Make the most of your September in the New Forest, where history, nature, and adventure await…

Spot The Pigs During Pannage Season!

September marks the start of Pannage season in the New Forest, so keep an eye out for pigs roaming freely! Pannage is an ancient tradition where up to 600 pigs are released into the Forest from September to November to feast on fallen acorns. This practice protects the New Forest ponies and cattle, as green acorns are poisonous to them.
