To help our campers enjoy a peaceful and eco-friendly getaway, we want to ensure you’re aware of alternative ways to keep your batteries charged without relying on noisy generators. Here are some great options to consider:
1. Solar Panels: Harness the Power of the Sun
Portable solar panels are one of the most sustainable and convenient ways to charge your devices and leisure batteries while camping. These panels absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity, which can then be stored in a power bank or used directly to charge your gadgets.
Advantages:
- 100% renewable and eco-friendly
- Silent operation, preserving a peaceful camping experience for all guests
- Ideal for extended stays, provided there’s sufficient sunlight
2. Portable Power Stations & Battery Packs
For campers who need a reliable power source, portable power stations or high-capacity battery packs are excellent alternatives. These rechargeable units can store enough energy to power small appliances, lights, and other essential devices.
Advantages:
- Silent and emission-free
- Can be recharged via solar panels, mains electricity, or vehicle charging
- Available in various sizes and capacities to suit different needs
3. Charging from Electric Vehicles
For campers travelling in an electric vehicle, using the car’s built-in power outlets can be a great way to charge small devices and power essential equipment. Many EVs have dedicated power outlets or USB ports that allow for convenient charging.
Advantages:
- Silent and emission-free
- Convenient for those already using an EV for travel
- Can be combined with solar or power banks for extended off-grid stays
And if you’re staying at our Long Meadow or Holmsley campsite you can recharge your car with our onsite EV Chargers!
4. On-Site Battery Charging & Free Charging Lockers
To support our guests, we offer a convenient battery charging service at our campsite receptions. Bike batteries can be recharged for £5 while you enjoy your day exploring the beautiful New Forest surroundings.
For phones, tablets, and other small devices, we provide free charging lockers. Campers simply need to bring a padlock to secure their belongings while they charge. Available at Ashurst, Hollands Wood, Holmsley and Roundhill campsites.
Why Choose Sustainable Charging Methods?
By switching to eco-friendly charging alternatives, you are helping to:
- Reduce noise pollution, ensuring a peaceful camping experience for all
- Lower carbon emissions and minimise environmental impact
- Embrace a more sustainable and responsible way to enjoy The New Forest
We encourage all our guests to plan ahead and choose an alternative power source that aligns with their needs. Whether it’s solar panels, portable battery packs, or using our on-site charging service, there are plenty of ways to stay powered up while keeping our campsites green and serene.
