Due to an extreme fire risk identified by Forestry England, BBQs will not be permitted on any Camping New Forest campsite from Saturday 11 July to Monday 13 July 2026 (inclusive).
The safety of our guests, our staff and the New Forest is our highest priority. With hot, dry conditions increasing the risk of wildfire, we are asking all visitors staying during these dates to follow the temporary restrictions below.
BBQs are not permitted
During the period 11 to 13 July 2026, all BBQs are prohibited on our campsites.
This applies to all BBQs, regardless of fuel type, including charcoal, disposable, gas and other fuelled BBQs.
Portable camping stoves
Small portable camping stoves may still be used, but only if all of the following conditions are met:
- They are fuelled by small disposable gas canisters only.
- They are used in an open area, well away from vegetation and other flammable materials.
- They are raised off the ground on a stable, non-flammable surface.
- They are only lit while actively being used and extinguished immediately afterwards.
- They can be extinguished quickly if required.
- A bottle of water is kept nearby and you know where the nearest fire extinguisher point is located.
- Any fire or safety incident is reported immediately to campsite staff.
Please note that these permissions are being kept under constant review. If conditions worsen, further restrictions may be introduced at short notice.
Please do not cook inside your tent or campervan
Outdoor cooking equipment should never be brought inside tents, awnings, campervans or other enclosed spaces.
Doing so presents a serious risk of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning.
Alternative options
If you’re staying with us during these dates, we encourage you to:
- Bring food that doesn’t require cooking.
- Visit one of the many fantastic pubs, cafés, restaurants and takeaways across the New Forest.
- Speak to campsite staff if you have any questions about the temporary restrictions.
Thank you for helping protect the New Forest
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while these temporary measures are in place.
By following this guidance, you’re helping to reduce the risk of wildfires and protect one of the UK’s most special landscapes for everyone to enjoy.
These restrictions currently apply from Saturday 11 July to Monday 13 July 2026. If Forestry England extends or changes the fire risk level, we’ll update this page and notify guests as soon as possible.
