If you’re visiting during the summer, don’t miss one of the highlights of the season – The New Forest Show! This annual event is a vibrant celebration of traditional crafts, local produce, and exciting entertainment, drawing over 100,000 visitors each year.
For younger members of the family there’s the arts & crafts tent where activies such as making paper butterflies or drawing with charcoal can provide hours of entertainment. There’s also the countryside area, where you might catch ferret racing or gun dog demonstrations.

Beaulieu National Motor Museum
Beaulieu is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and families alike. It boasts one of the world’s finest collections of cars, motorcycles, and motoring throwbacks. From legendary F1 cars to the quirky Outspan Orange Mini, the whole family will be entertained. You can also enjoy a ride on the iconic green monorail, offering a bird’s-eye view of the grounds.
During school holidays, Beaulieu hosts family-themed events, making it a hassle-free day out for visitors of all ages. Beyond the museum, the beautiful Beaulieu estate offers picturesque grounds to explore, adding even more to your visit.
And the best part? Beaulieu is just a 9 minute drive from our Roundhill campsite!
Paultons Park – Home of Peppa Pig World
Just a short 15-minute drive from our Ocknell campsite, Paultons Park is perfect for families. With a wide range of rides, from gentle attractions for younger children to thrilling rollercoasters for older kids, there’s something for everyone. For the younger visitors, Peppa Pig World is a magical experience. Attractions like Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club are ideal for children aged 1-6, while thrill-seekers can enjoy larger rides like the Cyclonator or Cobra. A visit to Paultons Park promises fun-filled memories for the entire family!
Hurst Castle
Got a budding historian in the family? Visit Hurst Castle! Originally built by Henry VIII and later used as a prison in the 17th century, it played a crucial role in defending The Solent during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Don’t miss the Tudor keep, where Charles I was likely imprisoned in 1648. Climb the steps to the roof for spectacular views across the Solent to The Isle of Wight. With its fascinating history and dramatic location, Hurst Castle is a unique day out for all ages.
Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway
For a tranquil and beauty-filled day, Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway is a must-visit. Open from March to November, the gardens are breathtaking when in full bloom. Late April and May showcase stunning rhododendrons and azaleas.
The land train, play area, and woodland walks will keep children entertained, while parents enjoy the serene surroundings. Dogs are welcome, there’s free parking, and you’re welcome to bring a picnic, making this a relaxing and family-friendly outing.
New Forest Reptile Centre
For a unique encounter with nature, head to the New Forest Reptile Centre. See rare species like the sand lizard, smooth snake, and adder up close. While you’re there, take the one-mile circular Reptile Trail, where you might spot deer along the way.
Entry to the site is free, with plenty of parking available for which they request a small donation. There’s also plenty of space to enjoy a picnic in this scenic setting, making it a great day out for families who love wildlife and the outdoors.
Lepe Country Park
If you’re craving sea air, Lepe Country Park is a no-brainer. With its long stretch of beach and views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, it’s perfect for families looking to unwind.
The park offers plenty of activities for kids, including the Adventure Playground, kite flying on the cliff top, and exploring each corner of the reserve. After a day of fun, head to The Lookout on the beach. Their signature beer-battered fish and chips is a must-try!
New Forest Water Park
When the weather warms up, The New Forest Water Park is the ultimate way to cool off. Packed with trampolines, monkey bars, slides, and a springboard, this inflatable aqua park promises an hour of non-stop fun and splashes for kids and adults alike.
