Nation Radio South Broadcasts Live from Our Campsites

A few weeks ago, we were thrilled to welcome Nation Radio South to two of our campsites – Hollands Wood and Holmsley – for a very special live broadcast event.

Over two days, Andy Jackson hosted his popular Drivetime Show directly from our campsites, shining a light on the people and stories that make the New Forest such a unique and treasured place. From Forest historians and local experts to happy campers, the broadcasts brought together a brilliant mix of voices, all passionate about protecting and celebrating the Forest.

Day One – Hollands Wood

The first broadcast took place at Hollands Wood Campsite, where Andy was joined by:

  • Robert, one of the New Forest’s Agisters, who spoke about his vital role in protecting the free-roaming animals that make the Forest so special
  • Gillie, Lead Ranger at the New Forest National Park Authority, who explained the importance of following the New Forest Code – a set of guidelines that help keep the Forest, its wildlife, and its visitors safe
  • Jess, our very own Hollands Wood Campsite Manager, who shared useful tips for camping responsibly and making the most of your stay in the New Forest

It was a brilliant opportunity to highlight how everyone – whether working in the Forest or visiting for the weekend – plays a part in protecting this landscape for future generations.

Day Two – Holmsley

The second day saw the show move to Holmsley Campsite, where the focus turned to local history, tourism, and the ongoing work to improve our campsites.

Guests included:

  • Henry from Friends of the New Forest Airfields, who shared fascinating stories about Holmsley’s wartime past and the Forest’s broader heritage
  • Nicola from the New Forest Tourism Board, talked about the many things to see, do and eat across the New Forest – all while exploring responsibly
  • Denis, our Chief Executive, who highlighted the recent improvements at Holmsley Campsite as part of our continued investment in the visitor experience

We also chatted with Helen, a happy camper staying at Holmsley with her family. She shared why Camping New Forest is their top choice for a holiday and what the Forest means to them.
